KLEZMER BAND
The word Klezmer comes from two Hebrew words, clay and zimmer, meaning vessel of music or song. However, it has come to characterize the style of secular music played by the Ashkenazi Jews from Eastern Europe for joyful celebrations such as weddings.
In 1999 Fay singer, together with Mathew Reid formed a small Klezmer band in Cape Town which today has gathered a huge following
in the jewish community reviving the klezmer music and bringing Yiddish to life.
