Dr Philip Krein (Vetenary Vte) and Chanan Rosin
JUDAISM AND ANIMALS
The way Jews should treat animals is encapsulated in Proverbs 12:10: The righteous person regards the life of his beast.
The Jewish concept of tsa'ar ba'alei chaim, the obligation not to cause pain to animals, is one of the most beautiful elements of Jewish thought. Jewish tradition is filled with compassion for animals, and strongly opposes the infliction of suffering on another living creature. Let's take a look at what Judaism says about our proper treatment of animals.
CHANAN ROSIN
Growing up listening to the voices of laughter and song, South African born Chanan Rosin, carries with him a taste of the African people and culture whilst remaining faithful and observant to Hassidic Judaism. Original melodies, colourful harmonies and lots of Africa have created Chanan’s musical expression Majuda – meaning “The Jewish Nation” in Zulu. We recently meet up with Chanan in Israel to find out how this African Jewel is coming along.
