CHUNNUKAH
Channukah is observed for eight days, beginning with the 25th day of Kislev in the Jewish calendar. It commemorates the historic victory of the Maccabeans following a three year long uprising against the Assyrian-Greek regime and their Jewish Hellinistic supporters, who conspired to impose restrictions against Jewish religious practices and values.
For many people around the world, Chanukah is probably one of the best known Jewish holidays, not because of any great religious significance, but because of its proximity to Christmas.
